LTE450 Vendors: 450connect Whitelist Approved Hardware

 

Not all routers work on the 450connect network. To connect a device to the German 450 MHz KRITIS network, the hardware must appear on the official 450connect whitelist – a formal certification that the device meets the network’s technical and security requirements.

This page lists the manufacturers currently holding whitelist approval and summarises what they make for the LTE450 market. It is updated as new certifications are issued. The whitelist has been expanding steadily since mid-2025 as 450connect accelerated its certification process in response to growing deployment demand.

How the Whitelist Works

450connect issues and maintains a device whitelist covering hardware approved for use on its 450 MHz KRITIS network. Certification is not automatic – manufacturers submit devices for testing and must meet defined radio, security, and operational standards before approval is granted.

The whitelist also carries usage instructions specific to each device. Operators should consult the whitelist entry for their chosen hardware, not just confirm the device name appears on it.

SIM cards for the 450connect network are distributed separately by 450connect directly and are only available to operators of critical infrastructure. Hardware manufacturers cannot supply 450connect SIMs – the two procurement routes are independent.

The Austrian network, operated by ArgoNET, maintains its own separate device approval process.


450connect Whitelist Approved Vendors

INSYS icom

Headquarters: Regensburg, Germany
Founded: 1992
Whitelist status: Approved early 2025 – one of the first three manufacturers certified

INSYS icom is a long-established manufacturer of industrial routers and gateways for critical infrastructure. Their LTE450 products are built on the modular MRX platform – a DIN-rail-mounted router series with plug-in card expansion slots that allow different connectivity types to be combined in a single unit.

Approved devices:

  • MRX3 LTE450 – three-slot modular router with LTE450 and standard LTE, dual SIM
  • MRX5 LTE450 – five-slot variant for higher interface density and redundancy
  • MRcard PL450 – plug-in expansion card adding LTE450 to existing MRX installations

All LTE450 routers in the MRX range also support standard LTE and dual SIM operation, which allows fallback to commercial cellular where 450connect coverage is not yet established or where high-bandwidth tasks make standard LTE the better economic option.

INSYS icom has been a member of the Versorger-Allianz 450 since 2025 – the association of over 200 energy and water utilities that co-owns 450connect.

Software: icom Connectivity Suite (VPN managed service) and icom Router Management (device fleet management) sit above the hardware layer and support CRITIS-compliant remote access and centralised configuration.

Garderos

Headquarters: Germany
Whitelist status: Among the first devices approved

Garderos produces industrial routers under the U-series designation. Their devices were among the earliest to appear on the 450connect whitelist, giving the brand an established position in the German KRITIS connectivity market. Garderos hardware is used in energy and utility network automation applications.

Welotec

Headquarters: Germany
Whitelist status: Approved

Welotec is a German manufacturer of industrial routers and gateways with a focus on energy automation and smart grid applications. Their TK804L1-450-DE is certified for 450connect network operation.

  • TK804L1-450-DE – industrial router with LTE450 connectivity

Advantech

Headquarters: Taiwan (European operations Germany)
Whitelist status: Approved in expanded certification round

Advantech is a global industrial computing and IoT hardware manufacturer. Their ICR-2437-DE variant has been certified for the 450connect network, making Advantech one of the larger international names on the whitelist.

Approved devices:

AddSecure

Headquarters: Sweden (European IoT connectivity specialist)
Whitelist status: Approved in expanded certification round

AddSecure focuses on secure IoT and M2M communications for critical applications including transport, alarms, and energy. Their DSR-211-450-DE device is certified for 450connect operation.

MC Technologies

Headquarters: Germany
Whitelist status: Certified February 2026

MC Technologies produces DIN-rail industrial routers and data terminals. Their MC-MNR device achieved 450connect whitelist certification in February 2026 and is notable for a quad-core processor with AI hardware support and a five-year security update guarantee. Made in Germany.

Other Manufacturers Active in the LTE450 Space

The following manufacturers are producing LTE450-capable hardware but are not confirmed on the 450connect whitelist as of the date of this page. They may hold approval for other national networks or have certification in progress.

Cisco – The Catalyst IR1101 Rugged Router supports an LTE450 plug-in module alongside a secondary cellular module for fallback. Cisco targets the SCADA and utility control room integration market. Approved for LTE450 operation in several European networks outside Germany.

Cyrus Technology / Intelliport – Produce LTE450-capable routers and IoT gateways targeting the 410/450 MHz band. Active in the 450 MHz Alliance.

Hytera – Introduced a smart terminal featuring a Qualcomm 450 MHz chipset in late 2025. Primarily positioned for mission-critical voice and data communications.

Tait Communications – Joined the 450 MHz Alliance in November 2025. New Zealand-based manufacturer with established presence in critical communications hardware.


Antenna Requirements

LTE450 requires antennas matched to the 450 MHz frequency range. Standard mobile router antennas optimised for 700 MHz and above will not perform correctly.

Where a router operates LTE450 as primary and standard LTE as fallback – the dual-SIM setup most operators will use during the 450connect rollout phase – a combination antenna covering both 450 MHz and the standard LTE bands (700 MHz to 2.6 GHz) is the correct choice. Running separate antennas for each radio is possible but adds installation complexity.

SIM and Provisioning

LTE450 SIM cards for the 450connect network are only available to operators of critical infrastructure. They are distributed by 450connect directly – hardware manufacturers are not able to supply them, though some (including INSYS icom) offer pre-installation of operator-supplied SIMs before device shipment.

For operators managing both LTE450 and standard LTE SIMs across a device fleet, eUICC-based SIM management is increasingly relevant.
